WASHINGTON, DC - The Georgetown University women's volleyball team will meet cross-town rival American University on Tuesday, September 20, in McDonough Gym. Match time is 7:00 p.m. and admission is free.
The Hoyas enter the contest on a two-match-winning steak after participating in last weekend's Black & Gold Challenge with host Wake Forest, Morehead State and South Dakota State. The Hoyas earned runner-up honors at the tournament defeating Morehead State 3-0 and South Dakota State 3-1, but falling 3-1 to Wake Forest.
Senior outside hitter Rachel Nelson and junior middle blocker Annie Connor earned spots on the All-Tournament Team. Nelson tallied 38 kills and 34 digs off three double-double performances. Connor posted totals of 35 kills, 12 digs and eight blocks.
American is 5-7 coming into tomorrow's match. The Eagles played in the USD Tournament in San Diego, CA last weekend where they dropped a pair of 3-0 matches to No. 18 San Diego and No. 25 Long Beach State before falling 3-2 to UNLV.
Georgetown will kick off the BIG EAST portion of the schedule on Friday, September 23 at Syracuse at 7:00 p.m. The Hoyas then take on Marquette on Sunday, September 25 at 1:00 p.m. in Milwaukee, WI.
