Washington, DC - The Georgetown University sailing team posted two top-five finishes this past weekend at the Nevins Trophy and the Mrs. Hurst Bowl.
Georgetown participated in the Nevins Trophy regatta in Kings Point, NY this weekend, placing third overall. Senior Andrew Campbell led the Hoyas to victory, finishing first overall in the C division. Boston College came in second with 65 points, a far cry away from Campbell's 30. A strong third place finish in the B division by sophomore Chris Behm and senior Nick Deane also contributed to the Hoyas outstanding performance. Georgetown's 14th place finish in the A division had almost no effect on the Hoyas overall.
Additionally, Georgetown competed in the Mrs. Hurst Bowl at Dartmouth College on the 18th. Although lack of winds canceled Saturday's regatta, Georgetown performed well on Sunday, placing fourth overall. Sophomore Blaire Herron and junior Emily Siguler came in sixth in the A division, while in the B division, senior Jackie Schmitz and freshman Carly Chamberlain placed fifth. In six out of the 14 total races, the Hoyas boasted top five finishes.
