Georgetown Sailing Wins Jesuit School Intersectional Regatta

Washington, DC - The Georgetown University sailing program picked up its first win on the fall season with a victory at the Jesuit School Intersectional Regatta this weekend, hosted by Fordham University. In other weekend action, the Hoyas placed fourth at the SMC Open for the Senators Cup and would finish ninth and 17th at the Laser Qualifying South Regatta.

At the Jesuit Cup, the Hoyas had 47 points, edging out host Fordham, who placed second with 60 points. Leading Georgetown to victory was senior Barry Kurland and sophomore Jamie Locks as they finished first in the Division A races. In the B Division, the duo of junior Todd Breeden and sophomore Phillipa Fraumeni placed second, only one point behind the winning Fordham pair of Mike Purinton and Georgia Doremus.

In the Hoyas fourth place finish for the Senator's Cup, they totaled 145 points, 42 points behind the Hobart and William Smith College. The sophomore pair of Zach Kavanaugh and Liz Rapp would finish second after their 15 B Division races, while senior Kyle Bergeron and junior Theresa Salerno placed fifth in the A Division.

Georgetown traveled two individuals to the Laser Qualifiers with junior Langdon Mitchell placing ninth and senior John Lord coming in 17th.

The Hoyas return to the water for the Kings Point, Tom Curtis and Bryson Regattas next weekend.
