WASHINGTON, DC - The Georgetown University women's volleyball team will welcome the Towson Tigers to McDonough Gym on Tuesday, September 6, for a 7:00 p.m. match. It will be the first home match for the Hoyas who enter the contest at 2-3. Towson is 5-1 heading into the contest.
Seniors Rachel Nelson and Jenny Weed lead the Hoyas in hitting with 63 and 57 kills, respectively. Nelson is second on the team in digs (46), while Weed is second in blocks (11). Freshman Katherine Niesen, recently tapped to the Hokie Invitational All-Tournament team, tops the Hoyas in blocks with a total of 17. She also has 30 kills on the season. Fellow classmate Caitlin Boland ranks first in assists with 156, in addition to 27 digs, and sophomore Katie Nulty holds the top spot in digs with 52. Freshman Jessica Buffum ranks third on the squad in kills (45) and digs (42).
The Hoyas will host the annual Georgetown Classic Tournament this upcoming weekend, with Yale, Central Connecticut and Ball State participating. The Hoyas take on Yale on Friday, September 9, at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, September 10, GU will meet Central Connecticut at 2:00 p.m., then Ball State at 7:00 p.m.
