Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University men's golf team shot a 39-over par 599 and is in 14th place in a field of 18 teams at the Joe Agee Invitational, hosted by the College of William & Mary at the Stonehouse Golf Course in Toano, Virginia.
Opened in 1996, Stonehouse is one of the top courses in Virginia, earning top rankings from Golf Magazine, Golf & Travel, and a 4.5 star rating from Golf Digest. For this tournament, the course will play at 6,721 yards, par 70.
Loyola College shot a four-over par 564 and leads the field by one stroke over Old Dominion. Richmond is in third place at 16-over par 576, followed by Princeton (19-over par 579) and Francis Marion rounds out the top five teams (22-over par 582). Georgetown posted rounds of 16-over par 296 and 23-over par 303 to place 14th after the first day of play.
Blake Ferguson of Loyola leads the field with a four-under par 136.
Senior Tim Moynihan (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) and sophomore Tim Hager (Newton, Pa./Council Rock) are tied for 38th place at eight-over par 148. Moynihan posted rounds of two-over par 72 and six-over par 76, while Hager finished the day with identical scores of four-over par 74.
Freshman Donald Thomas (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) is tied for 55th place at 12-over par 152, while senior Matt Busa (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Ignatius) and Patrick Sherry (Brookeville, Md.) are tied for 63rd place at 13-over par 153.
The tournament finishes on Tuesday afternoon.
