Georgetown Men's Soccer Travels to Notre Dame

Washington, D.C. - After snapping a four-game losing streak with a 5-0 win over Howard on Tuesday, the Georgetown University men's soccer team travels to the University of Notre Dame on Saturday, October 7 for a BIG EAST contest that kicks off at noon. Live stats can be seen at www.guhoyas.com.

Georgetown first-year head coach Brian Wiese returns to a Notre Dame where he was associate head coach under current Irish head man Bobby Clark for five seasons. Wiese and Clarke also worked together for five seasons at Stanford.

The Hoyas enter the game with a 4-8 overall record, 2-5 in BIG EAST action while the Fighting Irish boast a record of 8-3-2 overall, 5-2 in the league. The Irish are ranked No. 8 by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and No. 10 by Soccer America and are 4-0-1 in its last five games.

The game will feature two of the league's top scorers. Senior Ricky Schramm (Eastchester, N.Y./Fordham Prep) ranks third in the BIG EAST with eight goals while Notre Dame's Joseph Lapira has scored a league-best 15 markers.

Schramm leads Georgetown with eight goals while senior Daniel Grasso (Burr Ridge, Ill./Hinsdale Central) ranks second on the squad with three tallies. Grasso and sophomore Corey Zeller (Toms River, N.J./Toms River) lead the team with three assists apiece.

In the victory over Howard, Daniel Grasso was credited with three assists, a career-high and freshman Scott Larrabee (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif./Loyola HS of LA) scored the first goal of his collegiate career.

Georgetown leads the all-time series, 7-6 as the team have met at least one time every season since 1995. Last season, Georgetown won 1-0 in Washington, D.C. on a Daniel Grasso goal.

The Hoyas and Notre Dame share two common opponents, Creighton and Seton Hall. Georgetown fell to both schools (Creighton: L, 2-3 (ot) & SH: 0-2) while the Irish defeated Creighton, 4-1 and Seton Hall, 2-0.

GU is in action again on Tuesday, October 10 when they host Lafayette at 3 p.m.
