MAISA Team Race Results
Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown sailing program continued its quest for a national championship this weekend with a third place finish at the MAISA Team Race Championships in Annapolis, Md. With the top-three showing, the Hoyas qualify for the ICSA Team Race National Championships on Sunday, May 28 to Tuesday, May 30 in Charleston, S.C.
Hobart/William Smith won the regatta with an overall record of 16 wins and 1 loss, with St. Mary's College placing second with a record of 13-4. Georgetown rounded out the qualifiers with 12 wins and 5 losses.
The regatta opened with a pair of round robin matches among the eight participating schools. After the first rotation, the Hoyas stood in second with a 6-1 record, losing only to Hobart/William Smith, who went undefeated. In the second round robin, Georgetown tied for third with a 5-2 mark, falling to Hobart/William Smith and St. Mary's College.
Hobart/William Smith, Georgetown, St. Mary's College and Navy all moved on to the final four on Sunday, battling for the three qualifying spots for the ICSA National Championship. The Hoyas went 1-2 in the final round to secure their bid.
