Washington, D.C. - Georgetown University head women's basketball coach Terri Williams-Flournoy announced today that Shanice Fuller and Krystal Hatton will join the Hoyas program in the fall of 2006.
Shanice Fuller is a 5-8 guard from Chesapeake, Virginia who was named Southeastern District Player of the Year as a senior for Coach Gavin Harris at Indian River High School. Fuller led the Braves with 15.3 points and was a major cog for an Indian River High team that won its fifth consecutive district regular-season title. In the Virginian-Pilot, pre-season poll, Fuller was rated "Best Player" and "Best Defender."
"Shanice is going to be a great addition to our team," said Coach Flournoy. "Shanice is a combo guard that can score from anywhere on the court and can create for others. She is an explosive, athletic guard who is equally effective in transition or in the half court."
Krystal Hatton is a 6-2 forward from St. Louis, Missouri who played at Hazelwood East High School before lacing her sneakers for two seasons with the St. Louis University Billikens.
As a senior at Hazelwood East HS, Hatton was the Player of the Year in the Suburban North Conference and was named St. Louis Dispatch All-Metro Third Team after averaging a double-double with 14.8 points and 12.9 rebounds for Coach Terry Creamer.
In her two seasons at SLU, Hatton appeared in 43 games, averaging about 10 minutes per game. Hatton averaged 1.8 points and 2.9 rebounds in her rookie campaign before averaging 4.6 points and 5.5 rebounds as a sophomore. She collected double-figure boards four times as a sophomore and posted her first collegiate double-double with 16 points and 10 boards against Southern Mississippi in January 2005.
"Krystal is an athletic post player who will add some height and strength inside that we desperately need in the paint," said Flournoy.
