Washington, D.C. - On Saturday, May 6, the Georgetown sailing program hosted its 8th Annual Georgetown Sailing Alumni Regatta. A total of 32 alumni returned to sail, as they paired off to compete in six races.

2002 graduates Brian Bissell and Melanie Wood dominated the field, winning the first five races on the way to the 2006 title. Both were All-Americans during their time on the Hilltop, while Bissell has gone on to win the J24 Class World, North American and National Championships this year.

Former All-American and 2004 graduate Tyler Haskell paired with 2001 grad Paige Black to finish second, having won the sixth and final race on the afternoon. Head Coach Mike Callahan, a 1997 graduate, had an impressive third place showing, as he combined with recent graduate Kati Ferriss.

However, 1969 graduate Foster Mellen stole the show on Saturday. Sailing dinghies for the first time in a while, he remained competitive and was a topic of conversation of everyone in attendance.
