Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University men's soccer team hits the road for its final regular-season road game when the Hoyas take on Seton Hall University in a BIG EAST Blue Division match on Halloween night that kicks off on the artificial turf at Owen T. The Hoyas (6-10-0, 4-5-0) enter the contest winning three of their last four games, including the the last two league games. Georgetown has 12 points in the BIG EAST Blue Division, three points better than Seton Hall.
All six of the BIG EAST Tournament teams from the Blue Division have been decided with Notre Dame (24 pts.), Connecticut (22 pts.), West Virginia (19 pts.), Providence (17 pts.), Georgetown (12 pts.) and Seton Hall (9 pts.) all headed to post-season action. Notre Dame is the only team to earn a first round bye with the other five teams still playing for seeding.
Red Division schools Louisville (19 pts.), DePaul (18 pts.), St. John's (17 pts.), USF (16 pts.) and Villanova (15 pts.) have all clinched BIG EAST Tournament berths. Cincinnati, Rutgers, and Syracuse are vying for the final tourney spot.
The BIG EAST Tournament first round games take place on Wednesday, November 7 on campus sites.
Georgetown had scored just three goals through its first nine games but GU has netted nine goals in its last seven matches and seven goals in the last four matches. The Hoyas are in the midst of its first two-game BIG EAST winning streak since October, 2005.
Seton Hall leads the all-time series over the Hoyas, 14-9-1 and the Pirates have three straight and four of the last five meetings.
Junior Sean Bellomy (Dalles, Texas/Jesuit College Prep) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll as announced on Monday after scoring three goals last week. Bellomy scored three goals last week alone, surpassing the two goals he had scored in his first two-plus seasons. Bellomy has played almost every position on the field since his arrival at Georgetown and has played primarily up front for the Hoyas this year. Bellomy netted the team's lone goal in the 66th minute in the 2-1 loss at Maryland. Four days later, Bellomy scored both of GU's goals in the 2-0 win over Pittsburgh. Bellomy is now tied for the team lead with three goals and ranks second on the team with eight points.
