FGS Silent Auction Now Open!
In conjunction with the annual Friends of Georgetown Sailing Family Regatta and Dinner, FGS is sponsoring an auction to help raise funds for the sailing program in order to purchase a much needed new fleet of FJ's. FGS parents and friends have come up with some unbelievable auction items. You can bid on these items by email now! The auction is open to all - friends, families, and alumni, and will end at approximately 9:00 pm at the FGS dinner on March 31. Email bids will be accepted until 8:00 pm (EST) on March 31; however, the website will not be updated after Friday afternoon March 30. To learn the status of your bid after Friday afternoon March 30, call Barrie Loeks on her cell phone at 914-325-8926.
The auction items will be displayed and available for bidding at the FGS Dinner on March 31. If you are unable to attend the dinner and auction on March 31, this is your chance to place a bid on some of these outstanding items. If you are attending, this is your chance to stake your claim early!
To place a bid, send an email to Barrie Loeks at loeksb@gmail.com with your name, the number of the item you would like to bid on, and your bid. If you would like to place a bid over the phone, please call Barrie at 616-844-7031 (home) or 914-325-8926 (cell). Each day, the highest bid amounts from the previous day will be posted on the website next to each item. Remember that all proceeds benefit our sailors, so don't hold back!
Rules:
1. No bid may be placed below the "starting bid."
2. Where there is an "owners' reserve" listed, the item donor has the right to match the highest bid and donate that amount to FGS rather than provide the item, if the owner doesn't feel the bid is adequate. For example, if the high bid for a vacation house is $500, the donor may choose to contribute $500 to FGS rather than provide the house for a week.
3. Bids must be made in the increments specified.
4. The highest bid on each item at the close of the auction on March 31 will be considered the winning bid. Email bids will close at 8 pm on March 31. Bids may be made in person at the dinner until roughly 9 pm on March 31.
If you would like to donate an auction item, please email Karen Babbitt at karencb17@aol.com. Good luck at the auction!
