Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University women's basketball team held its annual postseason banquet on Saturday, April 20 at the Key Bridge Marriott. Fans of the program gathered to celebrate the season and send off graduating seniors Kate Carlin (Ambler, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph's Academy) and Amber Dorsey (Hampton, Va./Bethel).
Junior Kieraah Marlow (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) earned the team's Rebounding Award. Marlow averaged 6.5 rebounds and was named All-BIG EAST Second Team. In addition, Marlow led the team in scoring with 16.0 points per game and recorded four double-doubles while posting 11 20-plus point games. The forward came off the bench and scored a career-high 30 points in a win over Savannah State. She became just the eighth GU player to surpass the 1,100-point and 600 rebound marks. Marlow now ranks third among actiove BIG EAST players with 24 double-doubles.
Freshman Kenya Kirkland (Brooklyn, N.Y./Grand Street Campus) was presented with the team's Hustle Award. Kirkland averaged averaged 15 minutes per game and averaged 2.0 points, 1.8 rebounds and shot better than 42 percent from her guard position despite missing six games with a dislocated elbow suffered in practice.
Junior Kristin Heidloff (Chicago, Ill./Fenwick) was recognized with both the Scholar-Athlete Award and the HOYA Award for her dedication, passion and commitment to excellence in basketball, academics and community service. Heidloff finished the season ranked eighth in the BIG EAST in steals (2.0) while ranking third on the team with 7.4 points per game and 34 made three-pointers. Heidloff led the squad with 62 steals and ranked second on the team with 73 assists. Heidloff has worked equally hard in the classroom and earned a 3.62 GPA in business management and marketing.
Carlin and Dorsey capped terrific careers in 2006-07. Carlin finished her career ranked third on the school's all-time list, making 37 percent of her three-pointers. Carlin also ranks fifth all-time with 139 career made threes. The Ambler, Pa. native set a new school record with nine treys in a win over Fordham, marking the most threes by a BIG EAST Player this season. The guard/forward combo finishes her career ranked third on the school's all-time list with 112 games played while averaging better than 25 minutes per contest.
Dorsey saw action in her first two seasons before injuries hampered her in the team's last two campaigns. Dorsey has been an integral supporter of the program and a constant on the bench.
The Hoyas won 11 of their first 16 games including a stretch of seven straight wins from Nov. 18 through Dec. 4., its longest winning stretch since the 1992-93 season.

Earlier in the week, the BIG EAST Conference determined and announced the home and away league schedule of opponents for the 2007-08 women's basketball season.
Each team will play 16 conference games, eight at home and eight on the road and each team squaring off with one opponent both home and away. The conference has opted to maintain the same repeat opponents for the Connecticut/Rutgers series and the Notre Dame/DePaul matchups, while the repeat opponents for the other 12 teams have changed from the format of the previous two years.
Other home and away series include: Cincinnati-Louisville, Marquette-USF, Pittsburgh-West Virginia, Providence-Villanova, St. John's- Seton Hall. After taking on Cincinnati in a home and away series in each of the last two seasons, the Hoyas will face Syracuse two times in 2007-08.
Georgetown will host DePaul, Notre Dame, Providence, Rutgers, St. John's, Seton Hall and USF while traveling on the road to face Cincinnati, Connecticut, Louisville, Marquette, Pittsburgh, Villanova and West Virginia.
