Washington, D.C. - Georgetown University Head Volleyball Coach Arlisa Hagan announced the 2007 volleyball schedule today. The schedule is highlighted by six teams who competed in the 2006 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship, including Kentucky and St. John's, both of which reached the regional quarterfinals.

The 32-match schedule begins on Friday, August 24 with the D.C. Challenge where the Hoyas will compete against hometown rivals American, George Washington and George Mason.

The Blue and Gray hosts its first home event on Friday, September 7 with a 7 p.m. match against Northwestern as part of the Georgetown Classic. The Hoyas won the Georgetown Classic last year with a three-match sweep at the event and also welcome Towson and Iona to McDonough Gym for the competition.

A home match against Cincinnati marks the beginning of league play for the Hoyas as they will play 14 conference opponents in 16 contests. The Hoyas finished 12th in the conference last year in front of Rutgers, West Virginia and DePaul.

"This year's schedule is highly competitive," Hagan said. "Six of our opponents [BIG EAST Conference opponents St. John's, Notre Dame and Louisville and American, Winthrop and Kentucky] reached last year's NCAA Tournament."

Hagan also has a new addition to this year's schedule with the Virginia Commonwealth Thanksgiving Day Classic to end the season.
