Cincinnati, Ohio - The Cincinnati Bearcats scored a goal in the third minute of the game and then went ahead 2-0 with a goal just four minutes into the second half to top the visiting Georgetown University men's soccer team. The Hoyas dropped their fourth straight game on Friday night and fell to 1-5 on the year, 0-2 in league play.
Georgetown, who had been held scoreless in its previous four matches, netted a goal in the 88th minute when junior Corey Zeller (Toms River, N.J./Toms River) scored on a penalty kick. It was Zeller's second career tally.
Hoya senior goalkeeper Joe Devine (Exton, Pa./The Haverford School) posted four saves, matching his season average.
Patrick Baxter recorded a goal and an assist for Cincinnati. Baxter was credited with an assist on Noah Davidson's first goal of the season at the 3:27 mark. Baxter then scored a goal of his own after Kenny Anaba slipped a ball into the box that Baxter finished.
Georgetown held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks but UC keeper made four if his six saves in the second half.
The physical contest four cards with all four cards coming out in the game's final 23 minutes.
Georgetown will conclude this weekend's action on Sunday, September 23 at noon when GU travels to Louisville to take on the Cardinals. UofL posted a 4-0 shutout over visiting Seton Hall Friday night to improve to 4-2 on the year, 1-0 in BIG EAST play.
