Two Hoyas Earn All-BIG EAST Recognition

Nov. 14, 2008

Washington, D.C. - Two Georgetown University men's soccer players received All-BIG EAST honors Thursday evening at the conference's banquet held in Tampa, Fla. Junior defender Len Coleman (Basking Ridge, N.J./Pingry School) was named to the third team, and senior forward Peter Grasso (Burr Ridge,Ill./Hinsdale Central) was an honorable mention honoree. Georgetown advanced to the BIG EAST Tournament quarterfinals and currently has an 11-5-3 overall record.

This is Coleman's second selection to the BIG EAST third team as GU's lone honoree in 2007. The junior has played in all 19 games for the Hoyas this season with 18 starts to his credit as a powerful presence in the box. Coleman is a center back in a defense that allowed just 16 goals all season and posted 10 shutouts including five consecutive clean sheets to start the year. He was the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week and named to the Soccer America Team of the Week after GU started the season with a pair of shutouts at the Cal State-Northridge Tournament.

Grasso moved into more of a scoring role this past season making the transition from a midfielder to a forward. The senior did not have a career goal before this year but led the Hoyas in scoring in 2008 with seven goals and two assists for 16 points. These totals rank him fifth in the BIG EAST in goals and sixth in points. Grasso had four game winners for the Hoyas including both at the Cal State-Northridge Tournament.

The NCAA Men's Soccer Selection Show is scheduled for Monday at 5:30 p.m., on ESPNews.
