Dec. 11, 2008

Washington, D.C. - Georgetown University men's soccer player Len Coleman (Basking Ridge, N.J./Pingry School) was named to the All-Northeast Region Third Team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America on Wednesday. The junior defender was a force in the middle of the box for the Hoyas who posted a record-tying 10 shutouts this past season.

Coleman is a two-time All-BIG EAST honoree, this is his first selection to the all-region team. The junior played in all 19 games for the Hoyas this past season with 18 starts to his credit. Coleman is a center back in a defense that allowed just 16 goals all year and posted 10 shutouts including five-consecutive clean sheets to start the season. He was the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week and named to the Soccer America Team of the Week after GU started the year with a pair of shutouts at the Cal State-Northridge Tournament.

Georgetown finished the season 11-5-3 with a 5-3-3 record in the BIG EAST. GU earned the third seed in the conference's Blue Division and advanced to the BIG EAST quarterfinals before falling to the eventual champs.

Of the 33 athletes selected All-Northeast Region, 12 were from the BIG EAST.
