Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University women's basketball team continued to roll Sunday with a 63-46 victory over the Appalachian State University Mountaineers (1-9) at McDonough Arena. The Hoyas never trailed in their sixth-straight home victory of the season. Junior Jaleesa Butler (St. Louis, Mo./Alton) led GU in the balanced attack with a season-high 16 points and five rebounds to her credit. With the win, Georgetown improved to 10-2 on the season.

The Hoyas jumped out to a quick lead and held an eight-point advantage thanks to a three and a pair of free throws from Karee Houlette (Houston, Texas/Cypress Springs) at the 13-minute mark. Both teams struggled to score for the next three and a half minutes but a trey from Meredith Cox (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) put the Hoyas back in the driver's seat.

With time winding down in the first half, Georgetown managed to keep the lead in double-digits and after steady play, it was Butler that scored six points in the final three and a half minutes to lead 38-19 at the break.

Butler led the Hoyas in the first with 12 points and five rebounds including three on the offensive glass. Houlette contributed 11 with a 3-4 performance from beyond the arc as the duo combined for over half of GU's points. Both teams managed 23 rebounds and the Georgetown pressure defense forced 15 Mountaineer turnovers in the half.

The second half was much more balanced for the Hoyas with six different players contributing. A layup from Adria Crawford (Alexandria, Va./Thomas Edison) put Georgetown ahead by 21 to open the second but the Mountaineers quickly came back and cut the lead to 13 at the 13-minute mark. This was as close as ASU would get as GU's solid play managed to keep the Mountaineers trailing by a comfortable deficit as Georgetown cruised to the 63-46 victory.

Butler finished with 16 while Houlette had 15 points for the Hoyas. Crawford and sophomore Monica McNutt (Suitland, Md./Academy of the Holy Cross) each contributed eight points, McNutt also had four steals for the game. Junior guard Shanice Fuller had just two points, but was GU's assist and rebound leader with nine and eight, respectively.

Georgetown outrebounded Appalachian State 43-30 and forced 23 turnovers on the defensive end while holding ASU to just 29.6 percent shooting from the field.

The Hoyas will finish out non-conference play with a trip to N.C. State on December 31 for a New Year's Eve game at 5 p.m. Live stats and an audio broadcast will be available on the Wolfpack's athletic website.
