Georgetown Finishes Seventh at Lacrosse Homes Collegiate Invitational

Two Georgetown golfers finished among the top-30 overall and the Hoyas shot a second round 24-over par 312 to finish in seventh place with a 36-hole score of 43-over par at the Lacrosse Homes Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Towson University at the Prospect Bay Country Club in Grasonville, Md.

Longwood University posted the best round of the tournament on Sunday - a 10-over par 298 - and came back to top the 19-team field, finishing at 22-over par 598. Liberty University finished two strokes back at 24-over par 600 and UNC-Greensboro, the team leader after the first round, placed third at 26-over par 602. Loyola placed fourth (33-over par 609), James Madison was fifth (38-over par 614), Army placed sixth (41-over par 617), with Georgetown seventh and Cornell (46-over par 622), Navy (48-over par 624) and St. Bonaventure (49-over par 625) rounded out the top-10.

Michael Mulieri of Loyola fired a tournament-best three-under par 69 in the second round and took medalist honors with an even-par 144.

Georgetown was led by junior Tim Hager (Ivyland, Pa./Council Rock North), who tied for 12th place in the field of 99 golfers with a seven-over par 151. Hager shot a three-over par 75 in the first round and a four-over par 76 on Sunday.

Junior Patrick Sherry (Brookeville, Md./Landon) carded a four-over par 76 in the second round and tied for 25th place at 10-over par 154, while sophomore Vincenzo Salina (Vandoeuvres, Switzerland/Institut Florimont) tied for 38th place at 12-over par 156..

Junior Garrett Logan (Henderson, Nev./Bishop Gorman) tied for 70th place at 18-over par 162 and sophomore Trevor Matese (Bethesda, Md./Georgetown Prep) tied for 73rd lace at 19-over par 163.

Georgetown plays next at the East Carolina Invitational from April 4-6.
