Beallsville, Md. â"€ Princeton University shot a 13-over par 301 in the third and final round and came back from a three-shot deficit to finish at 54-over par 918 and win the Georgetown Hoya Women's Invitational, held at the Members Club at Four Streams Tuesday afternoon. After 36 holes on Monday in cold and rainy weather, the teams enjoyed warmer temperatures, but battled strong winds through much of the morning.
Princeton's Susannah Aboff took medalist honors for the second-straight season, posting an even-par 72 in the final round to finish the 54 holes in five-over par 221. The Tigers put four individuals among the top-20 overall to finish three strokes ahead of Rollins College, who finished second at 57-over par 921.
Yale placed third in 63-over par 927, followed by Nova Southeastern (70-over par 934) and Georgetown, fifth at 86-over par 950. Columbia (95-over par 959), St. John's (103-over par 967), Boston College (125-over par 989), Penn (138-over par 1,002) and Lehigh (140-over par 1,004) rounded out the top-10.
Aboff shot rounds of three-over par 75, two-over par 74 and even-par 72 to finish at five-over par 221, two strokes ahead of Joanna Coe of Rollins, who placed second at seven-over par 223.
Georgetown was led by junior Carly Hunt (Easton, Pa./Conestoga), who tied for sixth place at 12-over par 228. Hunt, who was tied for the individual lead after shooting a five-over par 149 during the first 36 holes, shot a seven-over par 79 in the final round.
Junior Chelsea Curtis (Hyannis, Mass./Cape Cod Academy) shot a team-best five-over par 77 in the final round and tied for ninth place at 17-over par 233. Freshman Christine Curley (Vienna, Va./James Madison) finished in 23rd overall at 23-over par 239, while senior Katie Dwyer (Allentown, Pa./Moravian Academy) tied for 42nd place at 37-over par 253 and senior Madeleine Nguyen (Atherton, Calif./Menlo) tied for 50th place at 41-over par 257.
Freshman Robyn English (Warwick, R.I./St. Mary Academy), playing as an individual, tied for 39th place at 35-over par 251.
