Georgetown Golfers Named Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars

Washington, D.C. - Georgetown University golfers Timothy Hager (Ivyland, Pa./Council Rock North) and Garrett Logan (Henderson, Nev./Bishop Gorman) were honored on July 9 as Cleveland Golf All-American Scholars. The award is given to Division I, II, and III athletes who preform well on the course and in the classroom.

Hager, a finance and management major, currently holds a 3.57 cumulative GPA. He competed in 16 rounds on the season, posting an average of 74.25 strokes per round, good enough for best on the team. Hager posted his lowest score of the season with a 70 in his second round at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational.

Logan, a Government major, currently holds a 3.33 cumulative GPA. He also competed in 16 rounds with a stroke average of 75.31 in those rounds. On average, he finished his rounds slightly more than five strokes off the lead. Logan had the best finish on the team at the Adams Cup of Newport, finishing tied for third.

Both Hager and Logan completed their junior year at Georgetown University helping the Hoyas to a trio of sixth place team finishes in the Big 5 Invitational, The Georgetown Intercollegiate, and the Ironwood Pirate Intercollegiate.

In 2008, 96 Division I athletes were honored. Honorees must meet several requirements in order to be eligible. They must have class status as a junior or senior at their respective schools, while also competing in seventy percent of their team's matches, or compete in the NCAA Championships. Division I honorees must also have a stroke average of 76 or better. Off the course the honorees must maintain a 3.2 GPA or higher and be in good standing with his institution.
