Arlisa Willams
Georgetown Volleyball Head Coach
On opening the season with a victory...
Wow, does that feel good. Our players have worked so hard throughout the preseason and it showed tonight.
On the offense ...
Our offense is pretty basic right now, but we've been trying to pay attention to the details and take care of the little things. By us passing well we were really able to get our hitters going. Vanessa did a great job in the middle and Sara Manley hit well on the outside.
On Sara Manley's performance...
I think it all had to do with passing. She takes a great swing, she's got a high contact point and she's really smart, but we can't do that if we can't get her one on one. A lot of that started with our passing.
On Caitlin Boland's effort ...
Her experience really helps us right now. She's just really excited to be back on the court healthy and she's taking control out there.
On starting the 2008 healthy...
It makes a huge difference to come into the season healthy. I was never looking on the court thinking any of our players weren't going to make it through. I think our whole mindset is different knowing our players are going to be able to make it through an entire match.
Vanessa Dorismond
Sophomore Middle Blocker
On opening the season with a win...
It was amazing. It's a big boost to start the season like this, we played really well as a team. During the preseason we worked really hard for this, so it's a great way to start and I'm hoping this is something that is going to set our season in the right direction.
Sara Manley
Freshman Outside Hitter
On playing her first collegiate match...
I was really nervous and really excited. The nerves wore off when I stepped on the court. I was over it, it was fine.
On her performance...
I thought I could have put a few more open sets away, but I thought I hit well, I thought I was pretty consistent. I could have been more aggressive with my serve, but I did a good job of putting the balls away that I needed to.
