Post Game Quotes

Sept. 12, 2008

Georgetown Head Coach Arlisa Williams
On the teams goals coming into the game against St. Francis (N.Y)... I talked to the team about us taking care of some things on our side. When we came home from North Carolina last week we knew we did some things pretty well. We were doing a great job of taking care of the first ball passing and defensively. But now it's converting those when we have transition plays. So we worked on all of that this week, they really came out focused on doing the things we need to do better.

On what was learned from the victory over the Terriers...
We managed to stay focused through three games and it also allowed us to experiment with our personnel. Kiersten McKoy came out and hit nine kills in 14 attempts. She hasn't had an opportunity like tonight, and when she had one she took advantage of it and that makes us a better team.

On the contributions from Ashley Malone and Kiersten McKoy ...
I think Ashley Malone and Kiersten McKoy add value to our team every single day. Just for them to get the court experience makes us better. The one thing that I emphasize is that when you get an opportunity to play, take advantage of it. Both of them did.

On playing at home ...
It is great to be at home. To have as many fans as we had today at our first match cheering for us was great. One of the biggest things is that when people feel appreciated they come back and we appreciated the support we received and got a chance to interact with the fans at the end of the game, which made the atmosphere much better.

Freshman Ashley Malone
On her performance... I was really excited because it was my first setting experience in college, I think I started out a little rough, but I got better as the match went on and I can only get better from here.

On the hitters...
It was awesome to see everyone hitting so well. They were doing really well hitting line like we had practiced and using everything we had learned in the game.

On playing in front of a home crowd for the first time...
It was more exciting, everything was more familiar and it was in front of our fans and everything in the crowd was Hoyas, so it was really good to play at home.
