Washington, D.C. - Georgetown University men's soccer player Ibu Otegbeye (Winter Park, Fla./Winter Park) was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll on Monday after helping the Hoyas to a 2-0 week and a 4-0 start to the season. The defender led GU to a pair of shutouts and got into the act on the offensive end with a pair of assists.
Otegbeye had two assists in Georgetown's 3-0 victory over Davidson last Friday. His first was the game winner as he got the ball to Seth C'deBaca (Albuquerque, N.M./Sandia Prep) who crossed it to Chandler Diggs (Coppell, Texas/Coppell) for the opening score. Otegbeye's second came in the final minute of the game as he sent a long pass up-field for Jose Colchao's (Fairfax, Va./Lake Braddock Secondary School) goal. The sophomore now has four career assists.
The Hoya squad also received national recognition on Monday as they were voted to the No. 23 spot in the Soccer America national poll. The Hoyas received votes in last week's NSCAA/adidas rankings, this week's will be released on Tuesday.
