Georgetown to Face Syracuse in BIG EAST Opener

Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University women's basketball team will host the Syracuse University Orange Saturday afternoon in both squads' BIG EAST opener at McDonough Arena. The Hoyas are 10-3 after non-conference play and will welcome the 11-2 Orange for a 3 p.m., contest. Georgetown was picked to finish 11th in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll.

The Hoyas split with the Orange last season and are currently tied 24-24 in the all-time series. Last year after a loss up in New York, Georgetown defeated then No. 22 Syracuse, 78-71, at McDonough Arena. The win marked the first over a ranked squad in four years as well as the first for Head Coach Terri Williams-Flournoy.

Georgetown is 10-3 on the season and 6-0 at home. The Hoyas are led by freshman forward Adria Crawford (Alexandria, Va./Thomas Edison) who is averaging 8.3 ppg and 7.1 rpg. Her 4.1 offensive rebounds per game currently rank her third overall in the BIG EAST.

The Orange come to Georgetown on a seven-game win streak with a 14-12 all-time record in the BIG EAST opener. The squad defeated Princeton in its last outing with a 70-61 victory.
