WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball squad announced its five televised dates for the 2009-10 season. The Hoyas will be seen on the BIG EAST Network, the Big Ten Network, ESPNU and CBS College Sports. Four of the five games will be conference matchups as the BIG EAST continues to be one of the most televised leagues in the nation.
The Hoyas will face Purdue on the final day of the BTI Classic on Sunday, November 22. The game will be featured on the Big Ten Network, one of 55 women's basketball contests that will be featured throughout the season.
Georgetown's televised home game will be on Saturday, January 16 as the Hoyas take on 2009 NCAA finalist Louisville at McDonough Arena. The 2 p.m. game will be featured regionally on the BIG EAST Network, all BIG EAST Network games are broadcast on SportsNet New York as well as other regional affiliates. The Blue & Gray will participate in ESPN's February Frenzy/Pink Zone on Sunday, February 14 at West Virginia. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU.
Two of the Hoyas' final three games of the regular season will be televised leading up to the BIG EAST Tournament. Georgetown's game at Villanova on Tuesday, February 23 will be broadcast on CBS College Sports and GU's final road contest at Connecticut will be the Hoyas' second appearance of the season on the BIG EAST Network. The Villanova game is scheduled to be the BIG EAST Game of the Week.
For the second consecutive season, ESPN or ESPN2 will broadcast the final three rounds of the BIG EAST Tournament and the second round will be seen on BIG EAST TV.
The league's overall exposure continues to grow and this season's national television package includes a game on CBS Sports, 18 appearances on ESPN/ESPN2, 27 on ESPNU and 25 on CBS College Sports.
The BIG EAST will have a league-record 18 appearances on ESPN/ESPN2, including a conference-best six games matching up BIG EAST teams. The BIG EAST Championship Final on March 9 will be one of two games this season aired on the network's original station, ESPN. It will again be the only women's basketball conference final in the nation aired on ESPN. The BIG EAST is the only conference to be featured on the channel this season.
