Washington - The Georgetown University women's golf team finished in 13th place at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate being held at the Greenville Country Club in Greenville, N.C. The Hoyas shot a 317 in the final round of play, giving them a 54-hole score of 84-over par 936.
Georgia State (27-over par 879) edged out host East Carolina (29-over par 881) in the last round to win the tournament crown for the second year in a row. East Tennessee State dropped from first to third in the final round, finishing with 39-over par 891.
The top individual was Elon University's Tara McFadden (two-under par 211), who was the only player to finish under par and registered a tournament-best 12 birdies in the process.
GU's best performer was sophomore Eunae Jo (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood), who shot a 20-over par 233 to put her in a four-way tie for 44th place. Jo tallied 33 pars in the competition, which was just five behind the tournament high (38).
Freshman Simone Strauss (Palm Desert, Calif./Palm Desert) tied for 52nd place with a 22-over par 235, while sophomores Joan Dulieu (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Detroit Country Day) and Katie Skinner (Boise, Idaho/Bishop Kelly) both produced 23-over par 236 - good to tie for the 57th spot.
Freshman individual competitor Jordan Redfield (Fort Mitchell, Ky./Beechwood) and rookie Audrey Dalton (Portland, Ore./St. Mary's Academy) finished in 69th place and 74th place, respectively, with scores of 28-over par 241 and 32-over par 245.
The Hoyas will next compete at the Ross Rogers Invitational at Mid-Pines Country Club in Southern Pines, N.C. on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 26-27).
