Georgetown to Play at West Virginia on Saturday

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's soccer team will travel to Morgantown, W.Va. this weekend for a BIG EAST contest against the No. RV/20 West Virginia Mountaineers at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. The Hoyas are 8-6-1 overall and 5-4 in BIG EAST play.

The Hoyas have spent some time in the national rankings and have eight shutouts to the team's credit but have dropped its last three games against nationally-ranked Maryland, Marquette and Notre Dame. Most recently, the Blue & Gray dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to the Fighting Irish at North Kehoe Field. Georgetown outshot UND and controlled the pace of the game but could not stop the golden goal seven minutes into overtime.

GU is led by juniors Seth C'deBaca (Albuquerque, N.M./Sandia Prep) and Jose Colchao (Fairfax, Va./Lake Braddock Secondary School) who each have three goals and four assists for ten points. Freshman Andy Riemer (McLean, Va./Georgetown Prep) and junior Chandler Diggs (Coppell, Texas/Coppell) both have six points apiece. On defense, the Hoyas have combined for eight shutouts with junior Mark Wilber (Tijeras, N.M./Albuquerque Academy) notching five in the net. Georgetown is currently ranked fourth overall in the BIG EAST Blue Division and has already clinched a berth in the conference tournament.

The Blue & Gray is out-shooting its opponents, 211-187, and holds an 80-60 corner kick advantage. The Hoyas have proven to be a second half team outscoring their opposition 10-4 in the second period. In overtime, GU is 1-1-1.

West Virginia enters the contest not having lost a game since September 18 at Louisville. The Mountaineers are 6-2-6 overall and 5-1-2 in BIG EAST play to rank second in the conference's Blue Division. Most recently, WVU tied No. 25/23 Ohio State 0-0 on October 21. Offensively, the Mountaineers are outshooting their opponents, 150-138, and hold the advantage in corner kicks, 84-73. Sophomore Alex Silva has a team-leading three goals and seven points, while freshman Abel "Shadow" Sebele leads the team with four assists and is second on the team in points with six.

Georgetown is 9-4 all-time against the Mountaineers. Last season, the Hoyas defeated West Virginia 1-0 at North Kehoe Field thanks to an unassisted tally from Scott Larrabee (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif./Loyola High School of Los Angeles).
