WASHINGTON - The No. RV/22 Georgetown University men's soccer team will take on the Pittsburgh Panthers Saturday afternoon at North Kehoe Field. The Hoyas are coming off of a 2-1 comeback win over the Seton Hall Pirates Wednesday evening in New Jersey. Georgetown is 7-3-1 overall and 4-2-0 in the BIG EAST tying them for third place in the Blue Division with Notre Dame.
The Blue & Gray posted a big comeback victory on Wednesday after trailing at the break. The Hoya offense got going in the second half as Andy Riemer (McLean, Va./Georgetown Prep) tied it up and Jose Colchao (Fairfax, Va./Lake Braddock Secondary School) connected on a diving header for the game-winner. Depth played an important role in the win, as reserves Tommy Muller (Altamonte Springs, Fla./Trinity Prep), Chandler Diggs (Coppell, Texas/Coppell), Jimmy Nealis (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) and Riemer all contributed solid minutes.
Georgetown has already posted seven shutouts this season as the squad boasts a veteran backline and two talented goalkeepers. On offense, GU has a balanced attack with 11 different players scoring so far this year and five Hoyas with five or more points.
Pittsburgh enters the game with a record at 1-9-1 and a conference mark of 0-5-1. Georgetown holds a 17-5 advantage over the Panthers in the series record. The teams' last meeting was in 2008 in Pennsylvania as the Hoyas won 1-0.
