WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's soccer squad will host the DePaul University Blue Demons on Wednesday afternoon at North Kehoe Field in the opening round of the BIG EAST Tournament. The Hoyas earned the fourth seed in the Blue Division and will host the Blue Demons who are the fifth seed in the conference's Red Division. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
Georgetown earned the fourth seed with a conference mark of 6-5 and an overall record of 9-8-1. The Blue & Gray has outscored opponents 21-17 over 18 games this season. The Hoyas are led by junior forward Jose Colchao (Fairfax, Va./Lake Braddock Secondary School) who has 13 points on the season with four goals and five assists to his credit. He is followed by Seth C'deBaca (Albuquerque, N.M./Sandia Prep) who has 11 points on the year.
This marks the second season in a row that Georgetown will host a BIG EAST Tournament game at North Kehoe Field. Last year the Hoyas defeated Cincinnati, 3-1, in the first round game.
DePaul is 8-9-1 overall and finished 5-6 in the BIG EAST. However, the Blue Demons have lost their last two contests. DePaul is led by Steffen Vroom who has seven goals and four assists for 18 points on the year. The Blue Demons had big wins over ranked teams early in the season downing No. 9 Northwestern and No. 8 UC-Irvine.
The Hoyas lead the overall series 2-0. They first defeated DePaul 2-0 in 2005 and last year, C'deBaca led the Hoyas to a 1-0 victory with an unassisted tally.
