Arlisa Hagan Volleyball Camp Releases Dates for Summer Sessions

Feb. 26, 2009

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Georgetown University volleyball team has released dates for the Arlisa Hagan Georgetown Volleyball Camp coming in July 2009 to McDonough Arena on campus at Georgetown University. The Youth Day Camp will run from Monday, July 13 to Friday, July 17. The Advanced Skills Camp will run from Monday, July 20 to Wednesday, July 22 with the Beginner Skills Camp running from Wednesday, July 22 until Friday, July 24.

The advanced skills camp is geared for players ages 14-18 who are preparing for high school volleyball for the 2009-10 academic year. Campers will be trained in the same manner as the Hoyas by Hoya staff and players. The beginners skills camp is for players of all levels ages 13-18 with limited or no volleyball experience. Each skill will be taught in depth in both individual and controlled game situations. The youth day camp is designed to introduce young players, ages 8-12, to the game of volleyball. Fundamental techniques of the game will be taught in an age and skill appropriate manner.

Conducting the camp will be Arlisa Williams the fourth year Georgetown Head Volleyball Coach. With over 20 years at various levels in the sport of volleyball, Williams' vast experience has already paid dividends for the Hoyas, who enjoyed their most successful season in five years, earning a 14-13 record and eighth-place finish in the BIG EAST Conference in 2008. Prior to Georgetown, Williams spent four years as an assistant coach at University of Florida, helping the program to an overall record of 131-15, while coaching 14 All-Americans and 19 All-Southeastern Conference players. As a player, Williams was a middle blocker for the University of Wisconsin where she was a three-time All-Big Ten selection (1990-92). During her career, Williams set school records and remains in the top five in career kills (1,495) and blocks (618), as well as guiding the Badgers to a 1990 BIG Ten Championship.

Assisting Williams will be Jake Lawrence and Lynnette Moster, both assistant coaches at Georgetown entering their second seasons on the Hilltop. Lawrence, a 2006 graduate of Xavier University, spent two seasons prior to Georgetown as an assistant coach at the College of Charleston. The Cougars compiled a 53-16 record and captured two Southern Conference Championships and two NCAA Tournament berths during Lawrence's tenure.

Before Georgetown, Moster served as an assistant coach at University of Albany following a remarkable college and professional playing career. A three-time American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-American outside hitter at Georgia Tech, Moster led the Yellow Jackets to the 2003 Elite Eight and the 2004 Sweet Sixteen. She competed with Gigantes de Carolina of the Puerto Rican Professional League and the USA National Team.
