Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University baseball team dropped their third straight game to the University of Pennsylvania on Saturday night, 18-4, at Rollins College Baseball Week.
Trailing 2-0 in the third inning, Andy Lentz singled through the right side with one out. Erick Fernandez followed with a single through the left side on the very next pitch to put runners on the corners. After a passed ball moved Fernandez to second, Sean Lamont struck out swinging. Despite the out, the Hoyas were able to score a run with a wild pitch that plated Lentz.
In the fourth, Rand Ravnaas evened the score at 2-2 with his first home run wearing the Blue & Gray, a solo shot to left field
The Hoyas loaded the bases in the seventh, but were already trailing 10-2. Lentz and Lamont reached base with consecutive singles and Sean Baumann drew a walk. Dan Capeless brought his RBI total on the season to five with a two-run single to left.
Alex Meyer (0-2) took the loss for GU, allowing five earned runs in four 1/3 innings. Will Harris threw a perfect two innings of relief and Bobby Kirby shutout the Quakers during his inning of duty.
Georgetown has off tomorrow and will take the field against host Rollins College on Monday night at 6 p.m.
