WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Georgetown University women's rowing team defeated George Washington University to take the 1998 Cup when the two schools met on the Anacostia River on Sunday morning. The Hoyas earned victories in the varsity eight, novice eight and novice four races.
In the varsity eight race Georgetown's first varsity eight, consisting of cox Danielle Valle-Fitzgerald, stroke Bridget Roddy, Jade Lefebvre, Melissa Horne, Sydney LeGuyader, Mimi Inuzuka, Meg Ginivan, Becca Kisner and bow Jordan Albright finished in 7:58.40.
The Hoyas second varsity eight consisting of cox Steph Joyal, stroke Taylor Dana, Anika DeVolder, Julia Camargo, Bridget Stinson, Angela Nelson, Amy Tenet, Madeline Sarason and bow Helen Burdett finished in third place in a time of 8:26.17.
Georgetown's boat in the novice four, including cox Elizabeth Jacobsen, stroke Jackie Fogarty, Claire McKinley, Katherine Farrell and bow Alison Bae finished first in a time of 9:05.22 over a minute in front of George Washington's team.
The Hoyas also earned a victory in the novice eight race, as cox Elizabeth Jacobsen, stroke Bridget Roddy, Jade Lefebvre, Mimi Inuzuka, Sydney LeGuyader, Bridget Stinson, Julia Camargo, Becca Kisner and bow Jordan Albright finished the race in 8:16.80.
Georgetown's first varsity four finished their race behind GW, with cox Katherine Relle, stroke Claire Mongeau, Jacqui Snell, Kaitlin Roe and bow Sarah Quehrn finishing in 9:28.51.
