WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's women's openweight rowing team dominated the water on Saturday, April 11, securing a string of victories at the GW Invitational on the Potomac River. Competing in a dual-style format against regional rivals, the Hoyas showcased their depth by sweeping every afternoon flight they entered.
The afternoon session was highlighted by the First Varsity Eight, who held off a late push from Duquesne to secure a first-place finish with a time of 6:34.81. The Second Varsity Eight followed with a commanding performance, crossing the line in 6:34.15 to defeat Duquesne by nearly 20 seconds. The fours remained equally sharp, as the First Varsity Four clocked a 7:12.34 to lead their heat, while the Second Varsity Four secured a definitive win in 7:24.18.
Earlier in the morning session, the Hoyas established their rhythm in the First Varsity Four, claiming the top spot with a time of 7:18.46, finishing ahead of both the Georgetown 2V4 entry and Fordham.
