SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. - The Georgetown University sailing team finished third at the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association's Team Racing National Championship held at the Treasure Island Sailing Center in San Francisco, Calif. The Hoyas were third with a total of 10 wins over the weekend.
Georgetown was selected to the final four along with Boston College, St. Mary's and Yale with the four teams sailing against each other in a round robin to determine the national champion.
In the round robin the Hoyas were able to defeat Yale but lost to St. Mary's and Boston College.
Boston College was crowned the national champion, finishing the competition with an overall record of 13 wins and four losses. St. Mary's finished with a record of 12-6 for second, the Hoyas were third (10-7) followed by Yale (9-8) in fourth place.
The Hoyas will compete for the Henry A. Morse Trophy at the ICSA/Gill Coed Dinghy National Championship, held June 1-3. The event is co-hosted by Stanford University and the St. Francis Yacht Club.
