WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's golf team opens its 2009-10 season this weekend (Sept. 19-20) at the 13th Annual Princeton Invitational at the Springdale Golf Club in Princeton, N.J. The par-72 Springfield course measures 6,108 yards.
The Hoyas will be one of 13 competitors in the one-round-per-day tournament, which includes Bucknell, Fairleigh Dickinson, Georgetown, Harvard, Lehigh, Monmouth, Penn, Richmond, Rollins, St. John's, Walsh and host Princeton.
A young Hoya lineup is expected to take to the links Saturday morning, with sophomores Eunae Jo (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) and Joan Dulieu (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Detroit Country Day) leading the way. Jo competed in all 10 tournaments last year, finishing third on the team with an 81.70 stroke average, while Dulieu appeared in nine of 10 tournaments and was fourth on the team (82.50).
Georgetown individual competitors and the team will tee off on Saturday between the hours of 8-9 a.m. A complete schedule is listed below:
8-8:09 a.m.: Individuals from Princeton, Penn, Georgetown, St. John's (1st & 10th holes) 8:18-8:54 a.m.: Georgetown/St. John's/Penn (1st); Walsh/Monmouth/FDU (10th) 9:03-9:39 a.m.: Harvard/Rollins/Princeton (1st); Richmond/Lehigh/Bucknell (10th)
Sunday's times will be in the same range, depending on Saturday's finish.
Last year, 2009 graduate Chelsea Curtis (Mashpee, Mass./Cape Cod Academy) tied for first place at the tournament with a score of 3-over par 147, while Harvard took home the team title. The Hoyas finished sixth in the 15-team slate.
Next Saturday and Sunday (Sept.26-27), Georgetown will continue its fall campaign at the Lady Northern Collegiate in University Ridge, Madison, Wis.
