Hoya Women’s Golf Finishes Seventh at City of Oaks Collegiate

WASHINGTON – It was moving day for the Georgetown women's golf team as a trio of Hoyas made double-digit moves up the leaderboard on the final day of action at the City of Oaks Collegiate hosted by NC State University. The Georgetown women's golf team held in seventh place at 60-over 924 (309-299-316) following the final 18 holes. The 13-team field competed on the par-72, 6,168-yard course at the Lonnie Poole Golf Club in Raleigh, North Carolina. The 44th-ranked hosts Wolfpack won the tournament at 24-over 888 (296-286-308).
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Georgia Ruffolo took the top spot for the Hoyas on the leaderboard as she finished 16th overall at 14-over 230 (78-74-78). Her move up 12 spots was fueled by a final round that saw a squad-best three birdies to go along with eight pars for totals of eight birdies (2/3/3) and 29 pars (10/11/8).
  • Catherine Qiu made the biggest vertical jump as she moved 14 spots to finish 22nd at 15-over 231 (77-76-78). The third round saw one birdie and 11 pars for a three-round total of four birdies (2/1/1) and 34 pars (11/12/11).
  • Sunny Wang also moved up 12 spots to finish 27th at 16-over 232 (77-77-78). She managed one birdie and 11 pars over the final 18 holes for a 54-hole total of four birdies (1/2/1) and 33 pars (11/11/11).
  • A pair of Hoyas finished in a tie for 35th place. Mimi Burton, competing as an individual, finished at 18-over 234 (77-74-83). Her final round saw 10 pars. Over three rounds she totaled three birdies (0/3/0) and 33 pars (13/10/10).
  • Milla Sagel also finished tied for 35th at 18-over 234 (80-72-82). She recorded one birdie and 11 pars in the final round for totals of five birdies (1/3/1) and 34 pars (10/13/11).
  • Gabriella Eifrig rounded out the Hoyas as she finished 68th overall at 28-over 244 (77-81-86). Her final 18 holes saw one birdie and four pars for tournament totals of five birdies (3/1/1) and 23 pars (8/11/4).

Georgetown will return to action April 5-6 when the squad stays closer to home for the Terps Invitational. The 54-hole, three-day tournament will be held at the Maryland Golf Course in College Park, Maryland.
