WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team continues to make program history this season as the Hoyas moved into the national polls for the first time since the 1992-93 season on Tuesday. Georgetown is ranked 25th in the ESPN/USA Today poll receiving 45 votes. On Monday, the Hoyas also received 22 votes in the AP Poll ranking them fourth among squads receiving votes.

Georgetown is one of five ranked teams in the BIG EAST, three additional squads are receiving votes.

Georgetown is 12-2 on the season and on an 11-game win streak. The Blue & Gray defeated then-RV/23 Syracuse on Saturday in overtime to move to 1-0 in the BIG EAST. The Hoyas have defeated three ACC squads already this season and two teams that advanced to the 2009 postseason.

Individually, freshman Ta'Shauna "Sugar" Rodgers (Suffolk, Va./King's Fork) was this week's BIG EAST Rookie of the Week marking the third time this season she has won the award. Junior captain Monica McNutt (Suitland, Md./Academy of the Holy Cross) has been named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll twice.

The ranking marks the first for the program since the 1992-93 season. After defeating Connecticut and St. John's, Georgetown moved into the 25th position on the AP Poll on March 2, 1993. The team was in the polls for one week and eventually advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16.

The Hoyas will continue conference play on Saturday in Tampa, Fla. Georgetown will battle South Florida at 7 p.m. at the Sun Dome.
