Campbell fired a 9-under par 275 in the second round and took a six-shot lead on the field of 12 teams with a 36-hole score of 9-under par 559 after the first day of play at the 26th Annual Georgetown Intercollegiate, being held at The Members Club at Four Streams.
The Camels shot an even-par 284 in the first round and followed that up with a 275 in the afternoon round and hold a six-shot lead on Miami (Ohio), in second at 3-under par 565. Two other teams are under-par after two rounds, with Maryland and Eastern Michigan tied for third place at 1-underr par 567. UNC-Greensboro is fifth at 1-over par 569, with Xavier sixth at 2-over par 570 and Richmond and William & Mary tied for seventh at 5-over par 573.
Detroit-Mercy stands in eighth at 6-over par 574 and host Georgetown is 10th of 12 teams at 17-over par 585.
The individual lead is shared by three golfers, each of them tied at 5-under par 137 - Vaita Guillaume of Campbell, Zach MacDougall of Eastern Michigan and Austin Kelly of Miami (Ohio). Robert Hoadley of UNC-Greensboro and John Popeck of Maryland are tied for fourth place at 4-under par 138.
The first day of play was held under sunny and clear skies in the morning and some cloudy conditions with a brief period or rain in the afternoon. One year after there were only nine even- or under-par scores in the entire tournament, the first day of play saw 53 even- or under-par rounds among the 72 golfers.
Georgetown freshman Charlie von Arentschildt (Phoenix, Ariz./Deerfield Academy [Conn.]), playing as an individual, is the top finisher for the Hoyas, tied for 10th place after a two-round 1-under par 141, including a 2-under par 69 in the first round.
The Hoyas are in 10th place of 12 teams after an 11-over par 295 in the first round and a 6-over par 290.
Senior co-captain Danny Hathway (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep) is tied for 20th place at 1-over par 143, posting rounds of 1-over par 72 and even-par 71. Fellow senior and co-captain Brandon Ellis (Westerville, Ohio/St. Francis de Sales) is tied for 32nd place at 4-over par 146. After a 3-over par 74 in the first round, Ellis carded a 1-over par 72 in the second round.
Sophomore transfer Curtis Loop (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan/California).is tied for 44th place at 6-over par 148. He shot a 5-over par 76 in the first round, but bounced back with a 1-over par 72 in the second round.
Junior Brian Dorfman (Greenwood Village, Colo./Cherry Creek) is in 54th place at 8-over par 150 after consecutive rounds of 4-over par 75. Classmate Taylor Hall (Roswell, Ga./Blessed Trinity) is in 57th place at 10-over par 152.
In addition to von Arentschildt, six other Georgetown players are competing as individuals. Freshman Ed McCrossen (Philadelphia, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) is tied for 55th place at 9-over par 151; sophomore Justin Edwards (Westlake Village, Calif./Westlake Village) is tied for 57th place at 10-over par 152; senior John Olsen (Mahwah, N.J./Bergen Catholic) and junior Brian Czarnecki (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) are tied for 61st place at 13-over par 155, sophomore Ryan Harpster (Glen Ridge, N.J./Delbarton) is in 66th place at 14-over par 156 and sophomore Brad Cadigan (South Weymouth, Mass./Boston College HS) is in 70th place at 18-over par 160.
Play concludes on Tuesday with 18 holes, beginning at approximately 8 a.m.
