Georgetown Men's Golf Fall Season Recap

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown men's golf team capped off their final tournament of the fall season at the Georgetown Intercollegiate last week, held at The Members Club at Four Streams in Beallsville, Maryland. The Georgetown Intercollegiate was one of five fall tournaments that the Hoya's competed in this fall.

The fall season included one top three finish and two top five finishes as a team. The season-opener was the Navy Fall Classic, and it was the best finish for the Hoyas, as they carded a 36-hole score of 13-over par 581, and placed third overall. Georgetown was led by Junior Brian Dorfman (Greenwood Village, Colo. /Cherry Creek) who finished in ninth place individually. Dorfman was the top finisher for Georgetown, shooting a 2-over par 144 and posting a 1-over par 72 in the second round to score a top-10 finish to kick off his junior campaign.

At the Renaissance Invitational, Georgetown carded a 17-over par 881 and finished in fifth place over three rounds of play, and sophomore transfer Curtis Loop (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan/California) finished in second place. In his first round, Loop carded a 3-under par 69, an even-par 72 in round two, and another 3-under par 69, carding an impressive 6-under par 282 and placing second overall, just one stroke behind the individual winner of the tournament.

This performance was the best overall performance of the fall season for the Hoyas. Another notable performance for Loop was at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic, where he carded a 1-over par 142 and tied for fourth place. Loop was the best overall player for the Hoyas in the fall, posting a 72.36 scoring average which was the lowest on the team. Likewise, Loop also had the highest percentage of rounds counted on the team this fall.

The Georgetown University men's golf finished fifth at the Richmond Intercollegiate as well, held in Richmond, Va., shooting a 14-over par 878 after 54 holes. The Hoyas were led by Junior Taylor Hall (Roswell, Ga./Blessed Trinity),who turned in an impressive top-10 finish, shooting a 6-under par 66 in the second round, which was the best individual round of the fall for the Georgetown squad. Hall finished the Richmond Invitational with a three-round total of 215, 1-under par and finished in ninth place overall.

Georgetown freshman Charlie von Arendtschild (Phoenix, Ariz./Deerfield Academy [Conn.]),played as an individual in two tournament this fall and played very well in both outings. In his first appearance of the fall, von Arendtschild finished in the top 20, shooting a 2-over par 218. At the Georgetown Intercollegiate, von Arendtschild was the top finisher for the Hoyas, tying for fourth place with a final score of 2-under par 211, including a 3-under par 68 in the second round.

The Hoyas resume play in March when they kick off their spring season.
