WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University volleyball squad (14-13, 4-7 BIG EAST) dropped the Halloween match to Seton Hall (11-15, 5-5 BE) 3-0, 25-14, 25-21, 25-23. Vanessa Dorismond (Cary, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) notched nine kills and two total blocks. Lindsay Wise (Raleigh, N.C./Raleigh Charter) tallied eight kills and a match-high .312 hitting percentage for the Hoyas.
After dropping the first set, 25-14, the Hoyas were able to take the first point of the second set on a kill from Dorismond. Later in the set, GU was down 11-6 but another Dorismond kill, a service ace from Annalee Abell (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay) and a Seton Hall error brought the Hoyas within two at 11-9. Although the Hoyas hit .312 as a team in the second set and fought off one set point on a kill from Brooke Bachesta (Sammamish, Wash./Eastside Catholic), GU could not fight off SHU and lost the second set, 25-21. Dorismond recorded five kills in the set.
In the third set, the Blue & Gray hit .200 and came within one at 24-23 with a timely kill from Dorismond. But a Seton Hall kill ended the set at 25-23. Wise notched four kills in the third set and Paris Coleman (Inglewood, Calif./Brentwood School) tallied five digs in the set, and nine on the match.
Georgetown will travel next weekend to face Connecticut on Friday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. and St. John's on Sunday, Nov. 7 at 2 p.m.
