WASHINGTON - Sophomore transfer Curtis Loop (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan/California) finished in second place and the Georgetown University men's golf team finished in fifth place at the Renaissance Invitational at the Renaissance Golf course in Fort Myers, Fla.

In his first round, Loop carded a 3-under par 69, an even-par 72 in round two, and another 3-under par 69 in Monday's final round. Loop carded an impressive 6-under par 282 over his three rounds, placing second overall and just one stroke behind the individual winner of the tournament.

Georgetown shot a first round score of 12-over par 300 and then went on to post a 2-under par 291 in the second round of play. The Hoyas capped off the tournament with a strong third round score of 2-over par 290. Over the three rounds, Georgetown carded a 17-over par 881 and finished in fifth place. Tournament-host Xavier University won the tournament, carding a 7-under par 857. Florida Gulf Coast University finished in second place and posted a 4-under par 860. Rounding out the top three was Ball State University, who shot 6-over par 870.

Junior Brian Dorfman (Greenwood Village, Colo./Cherry Creek) turned in the second best score for Georgetown, tying for 18th place at 4-over par 219. He shot a 2-under par 70 in his second round.

Senior co-captain Brandon Ellis (Westerville, Ohio/St. Francis de Sales) carded a 12-over par 227 and tied for 42nd place. Junior Taylor Hall (Roswell, Ga./Blessed Trinity) tied for 46th place at 13-over par 228 and Senior co-captain Danny Hathway (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep) tied for 63rd place, shooting a 17-over par 232 over his three rounds.

Georgetown is back in action next Monday, Oct 11, at the Richmond Intercollegiate in Richmond, Va.
