Georgetown Men's Golf Announces 2011 Spring Schedule

WASHINGTON - Georgetown Men's Golf Coach Tommy Hunter announced the 2011 spring schedule on Tuesday, November 9th. The Hoyas will be participating in five events this spring, highlighted by the BIG EAST Championship being held in Tampa, Fla. on the weekend of April 14- April 17th.

The fall season included one top-three finish and two top-five finishes as a team. The season-opener was the Navy Fall Classic which was their best overall performance as the Hoyas placed third.

The Hoyas were lead by sophomore transfer Curtis Loop (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan/Cal-Berkeley) this fall. Loop was the best overall player for the Hoyas in the fall, posting a 72.36 scoring average which was the lowest on the team. Likewise, Loop also had the highest percentage of rounds counted on the team this fall (12 out of 14).

The spring season will kick off on March 21st at the Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va. for the William & Mary Invitational. On the following weekend, The Hoyas will head to the Lacrosse Homes Invitational, hosted by Towson University, at the Prospect Bay Golf Club in Graysonville, Md.

From there, Georgetown will head to Malvern, Penn. to play in the Villanova Invitational on April 3rd and 4th at the White Manor Golf Club. The Hoyas wrap up regular season play before heading into the BIG EAST Championship, with an appearance in the Princeton Invitational on April 9th -10th, which is being held at the Springdale Gold Club in Princeton, N.J.

The Hoyas won the BIG EAST championship last year, and are looking to build off of a strong 2010 fall season.
