Georgetown Volleyball Announces 2011 Recruiting Class

Nov. 15, 2010

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University head volleyball coach Arlisa Williams has announced that Kieley Culbertson (Grain Valley, Mo./Blue Springs), Alexandra Johnson (Tampa, Fla./Plant) and Danielle White (Mission Viejo, Calif./Mission Viejo) have each signed national letters of intent to join the Hoyas for the 2011-12 academic year.

"We are extremely excited about the 2011 class," said Williams. "Kieley, Alex, and Dani have played a high level of volleyball and are the passionate, gritty, get after players that will help us as we continue to build our program. Not only are they very good volleyball players, they are extremely disciplined in the classroom. They are very nice additions to our volleyball family."

Culbertson, a 5-7 setter, is a three-year letterwinner, three-time conference champion and two-time district champion. Culbertson is also a three-time Academic All-State player and was selected to the All-State Tournament Team her senior year. She plays club volleyball for the Kansas City Extreme. Culbertson also achieved the Principal's Honor Roll throughout high school.

"Kieley is a hard working setter who is very consistent in her placement and delivery of the ball," said Williams. "Her work ethic is out of this world."

Johnson is a 5-11 outside hitter who has also lettered in volleyball three times. A three-time Florida State Champion, Johnson was named by PrepVolleyball.com one of the top 250 recruits of the 2011 class. Serving as a captain her senior year, Johnson was named an Under Armour Player of the Week in 2010 and a First Team Western Conference player. Johnson plays club volleyball for the Tampa Bay Juniors. She is also a member of the National Honor Society.

"Alex brings everything you need in a six rotation outside hitter," stated Coach Williams. "She can pass balls, hit at a high contact point and play great defense. She is going to be a lot of fun to have on the court."

White, a 5-10 middle blocker, is also a three-year letterwinner and served as a captain her senior year. White made Second Team All-League in 2009 and won the Las Vegas Invitational with her club team in 2010. She plays club for the Laguna Beach Volleyball Club. White is a member of the Pink Ribbon Club and the Girl Scouts of America.

"Dani is a great blocker who will only get better," said Williams. "She hits a good ball and brings something we don't see in a lot of middles at this level: ball control."

The Hoyas finished this season 15-15 and 5-9 in the BIG EAST. This season is the first 15-win season under Williams.
