Washington, D.C. - Earlier this week, Georgetown University and women's soccer coach Dave Nolan announced the signings of eight freshmen that will makeup the incoming class of 2010.

"This incoming class is quite possibly the most talented and balanced set of recruits in my time here at Georgetown," Nolan said. "All eight have the ability and experience to make an immediate contribution and all eight will challenge for starting roles right away. I am really excited about them joining our program and seeing how they progress on the field and in the class room over the next four years."

Kailey Blain, Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack

Kailey is a two time member of the Region 1 ODP team and former member of the U.S. Soccer youth national team pool. A five-time member of the New Hampshire State team, she plays her club soccer for FC Stars of Massachusetts, one of the premier club programs on the east coast. A two-time NSCAA All-American, she also captained her Merrimack H.S. team, where she is a four-time First Team All-State Selection. In addition, she was the New Hampshire Gatorade Player of the Year in 2008.

"Kailey is an extremely athletic and talented player. A fierce competitor and leader who can genuinely play anywhere on the field she has the potential to impact us in a variety of positions. I am expecting her to step in right away and make a difference. "

Kaitlin Brenn, Somerville, N.J./Somerville

Kaitlin is a former member of the Region 1 and New Jersey ODP program. She plays her club soccer for the PDA Fire, consistently one of the best teams in the nation over the last five years. She helped lead them to three national championship appearances. She is a multi-sport athlete at Somerville H.S., and has represented them at soccer, tennis and golf.

"Kaitlin is a very skillful forward with great instincts for the game. She can score, create goals and generally brings others into play very well. She gives us a target to play to and will complement our other forwards very well. I have very high hopes for Kaitlin and expect her to have a great career at Georgetown. "

Alex Bushman, New York, N.Y./Bronx School of Science

Alex is a five-time member of the East New York ODP program. She is also a member of the Albertson Fury 91, one of the top club teams on the east coast. A teammate of fellow newcomer Emily Menges, she has helped the team to various successes both regionally and nationally. She captained the Bronx High School of Science to a state championship for the past two years. This year she was presented with the Wingate Award, given to the top girls soccer player in New York public schools.

"Alex is a very tidy, accomplished defender who attacks very well from the back. A good athlete with pace and great feet she will provide us with a strong right-sided defender. She has played at a high level and is ready to come in and contribute right away."

Colleen Dinn, Kensington, Md./Academy of the Holy Cross

Colleen is a three-time member of the Maryland Olympic Development Program and plays her club soccer for the Bethesda Dragons, one of the top soccer teams in the country. A three-sport athlete at the Academy of the Holy Cross, (soccer, track & swimming) she was captain for both the soccer and track teams. An All-Conference selection she was also named All-Met this past year and Conference Player of the Year.

"Colleen is a clever left-sided attacking player with good pace and a great sense for the game. A tireless worker with a great attitude she will give us balance on the left side, which we need. I believe she will give us another great option going forward and I expect her to help us immediately."

Mary Kroening, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury

Mary is a member of the Region Two Olympic Development Program and a four-time representative of the Minnesota State team. She plays her club soccer for the Woodbury Inferno, one of the top teams in the Midwest. Her Woodbury H.S. team was ranked No. 1 nationally this year and she was named All-Conference. Mary is a three-sport athlete and also represented her school at basketball and softball.

"Mary is a versatile defender with very good athleticism and technical ability. She is strong in the air, good in the tackle but is also a very good passer. She has competed at a high level and will challenge all our defenders for a starting role as she is very strong with both feet. I think she will be a big surprise and will have a great four years at Georgetown."

Emily Menges, Garden City, N.Y./Garden City

Emily plays her club soccer for Albertson Fury 91, one of the premier teams on the east coast. A team captain she has led the Fury to much success in the nation's premier events. She has also played in the WPSL for the Long Island Fury against some of the best senior players in the country. Emily is a two-time All-State selection for soccer and is also an All-American and All-State selection for indoor and outdoor track in the 800M, 4x400, 4x800 and 1600M.

"Emily is definitely one of the more athletic girls I will get to coach at Georgetown. An All-American track star, an accomplished lacrosse player and a fantastic soccer player. She will play soccer and run track here at Georgetown. A great defender with fantastic pace, very good technical ability and composure she is going to be a great addition to the program. I fully expect Emily to have an immediate impact for us."

Amanda Soderlund. Boise, Idaho/Timberline

Amanda is a member of the Far West Olympic Development Program and has been a member of the Idaho State team for the past six years. She plays her club soccer with Les Bois United who compete at the highest level at both US Club and USYSA soccer. She captained Timberline H.S. to State Championships in 2007 & 2008 and is a two-time All-State Selection.

"Amanda is a very clever soccer player with great instincts for the game. She can play anywhere on the attacking side of the ball, has great creative ability and a nose for the goal. She has competed at the highest level of youth soccer and is somebody I expect to come in straight away and challenge all our attacking players."

Alexa St. Martin, Westford, Mass./Westford Academy

Alexa is a former member of the U.S. Youth National soccer program and a three-time member of the Region 1 and Massachusetts Olympic Development program. As team captain she led her club soccer team, FC Stars, to four state championships. She is a teammate of incoming freshman Kailey Blain. At the Westford Academy she was team captain, MVP and First Team All-League.

"Alexa is a talented player, smooth on the ball with a great understanding of the game. A tough competitor with the ability to play in a variety of positions she will give us so many more options and flexibility. I am very excited to add Alexa to our program."
