Tembon Joins the Hoyas in 2010

Feb. 25, 2010

WASHINGTON - Junior transfer Henry Tembon (London, England/The School at Church Farm) has joined the Georgetown University men's soccer squad for his final year of eligibility. Tembon is a transfer from the University of Virginia and will join the Hoyas for the 2010 fall season.

"We're excited to have Henry on campus and to welcome him into the Georgetown soccer family. In his short time here, Henry has already fit in seamlessly," said Georgetown Head Coach Brian Wiese. "We're also excited with the athleticism he will bring to the lineup this fall and we look forward to his contributions."

Tembon was a Pennsylvania All-State honoree in 2006 at The School at Church Farm located in Exton, Pa. He was selected to the Eastern Pennsylvania All-Area squad and to the Southeastern Pennsylvania All-Region team as a junior and senior as well as being named the conference player of the year. As a three-sport athlete, Tembon was a letterwinner in both basketball and track along with soccer. He was the captain of the team as both a junior and a senior. Off the field Tembon was a member of the honor roll all four years and in the National Honor Society.

"I am very excited about the upcoming season with the potential of this team. Upon my arrival, I stated my goals to the coaches of having aspirations to help bring Georgetown soccer into the upper echelons of the college game and we agreed that this team had all the ingredients to make the push," said Tembon. "Already having one of my best friend's in (junior) Seth C'deBaca here made it an easy choice to transfer in after hearing from and turning down other top schools. I am very lucky to move from one elite program to another and am looking forward to duplicating the success Virginia had."

Tembon comes from an athletic family. His brother George played soccer at Indiana University and his younger brother Andy will play football at the University of Arizona after recovering from knee surgery.

The junior has been participating in spring practice with the Hoyas but will not be allowed to play in the spring games. He will have one final year of NCAA eligibilty remaining in the fall.

"I left a lot of good people behind at UVA and would like to extend great thank you to them and the whole Virginia program for accepting me into their culture," said Tembon. "I wish them nothing but success in the future, but now it's about Georgetown. I look forward to my time on the Hilltop and hope success in the form of championships follow."
