Rodgers Earns Fifth BIG EAST Rookie of the Week Award

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University freshman Ta'Shauna "Sugar" Rodgers (Suffolk, Va./King's Fork) earned her fifth BIG EAST Rookie of the Week award on Tuesday helping the Hoyas to a 3-1 mark to close out the regular season. She is the only first-year player to receive five weekly honors and sitting behind Connecticut's Tina Charles who has six weekly awards this season.

Rodgers averaged 18.0 ppg as well as 3.8 rpg for the week going 8-of -9 from the line and hitting 14 three's in four games. She was part of a trio that helped set the record for most three's in a game against Seton Hall with 13.

Over the four-game span, the Hoyas defeated Villanova, Jacksonville State and Seton Hall while falling to No. 1/1 UConn. Rodgers led Georgetown in scoring in three of four outings. She also had six steals and six assists for an all-around performance.

Monica McNutt (Suitland, Md./Academy of the Holy Cross) was also named to the weekly honor roll for her efforts. She averaged 13.3 ppg and 2.8 rpg while tallying nine assists and two steals. The junior captain led Georgetown past Villanova with 18 points in the victory. She was also part of the record setting trio against Seton Hall hitting four treys.

The No. 12/11 Hoyas finished the regular season 25-5 overall and 13-3 in the BIG EAST to tie for second place in conference play and earn the third seed in the BIG EAST Tournament. Georgetown will have a double bye into the quarterfinals to be played on Sunday.
