Men's Golf Tied for 12th at Towson Invitational

The Georgetown University men's golf team posted a second round score of 17-over par 305 and stands in a tie for 12th place after the first day of play at the Fireline Towson Invitational. The Hoyas are tied for 12th with Drexel University at 50-over par 626.

UNC-Greensboro leads the field of 19 teams at 2-over par 578, while Kent State is second at 7-over par 583, followed by Campbell in third at 23-over par 599, Towson in fourth at 24-over par 600 and Rhode Island in fifth place at 29-over par 605.

Sophomore Brian Dorfman (Greenwood Village, Colo./Cherry Creek) paced the Hoyas, tying for 31st place at 10-over par 154 after rounds of 6-over par 78 and 4-over par 76.

Senior Vincenzo Salina (Vandoeuvres, Switzerland/Institut Florimont) and sophomore Taylor Hall (Roswell, Ga./Blessed Trinity) finished were tied for 52nd place at 13-over par 157, while junior Brandon Ellis (Westerville, Ohio/St. Francis de Sales) tied for 71st place at 16-over par 160 and freshman Brad Cadigan (South Weymouth, Mass./Boston College HS) tied for 83rd place at 19-over par 163.

The Towson Invitational is being played at the par 72, 6,659-yard Prospect Bay Country Club. Host Towson and the Hoyas are joined at the 54-hole tournament by Army, Boston College, Campbell, Columbia, Cornell, Delaware, Drexel, Kent State, Long Island, Longwood, Loyola (Md.), Navy, Rhode Island, Seton Hall, Siena, North Carolina-Greensboro and William & Mary.

Georgetown finished in ninth place out of 17 teams at last year's Invitational with a 54-hole score of 46-over par 910. Kent State won the team title after firing an 11-under par 853, winning by 25 strokes over second place finisher William & Mary (14-over par 878).

The Hoyas are coming off of their first tournament of the spring, having played at the C&F Bank Intercollegiate hosted by William & Mary March 23-24, where they finished in a tie for 12th place out of 22 teams with a 36-hole score of 605 (+37).
