WASHINGTON - Seven members of the Georgetown University Rowing team were named Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar-Athletes when recipients were announced on Tuesday, May 25. Openweights Jackie Fogarty, Megan Ginivan, Sydney LeGuyader and Jacqui Snell and lightweights Juliana Pugliese, Katharine Thompson and Alex Vezina all received recognition.

"One of the expectations we have for the student athletes here at Georgetown is that they maintain a high level of academic performance in the classroom and maximize their athletic capacity on the water," Georgetown Women's Rowing Head Coach Glenn Putyrae said. "Each of these athletes has done these things and it is great to see them recognized as National Scholar Athletes by the CRCA."

To be named a CRCA National Scholar Athlete a student-athlete has had to maintain a 3.5 cumulative grade point average throughout her career. Student-athletes also have had to meet all eligibility rules of her institution, be in the second, third or fourth year of eligibility, row in a minimum of 75 percent of the current spring races.

For seniors Ginivan, Thompson and Vezina it is the third consecutive year the three have earned CRCA National Scholar-Athlete honors. For Pugliese, a senior, it is the second consecutive year she has earned the honor. Fogarty, LeGuyader and Snell are all making their first appearances on the list.
