Elizabeth Riggins: "Hey everyone! My name is Elizabeth Riggins and I am a freshman middle blocker. I was looking up and down the east coast for college choices when I stumbled upon Georgetown University; the campus feel and close proximity to city life sold me. I hail from southern Orange County in California, which is about an hour south of Los Angeles. Needless to say, D.C. is a far cry from the beaches in Laguna and Newport Beach, but I was ready for a new and exciting experience in our nation's capital. I was in turn rewarded with the best teammates I could ever ask for and an excellent coaching staff to help me develop my skills as a volleyball player. So far my favorite drill has been "trips" or what those on the west coast call "queen of the court," mostly because it's a drill I've done before and, therefore, understand and can perform well. My parents' names are Marie and Steve and I have a brother named Stephen who is 15 and will be a sophomore in high school; he plays water polo for his high school team and for SET Water Polo Club."
Brooke Bachesta: "Hi my name is Brooke Bachesta and I'm an incoming freshman outside hitter. I'm from Washington State and I played for Eastside Catholic High School in Sammamish. I have one younger sister named Malia who will be a junior at Eastside this fall, and my parents are Jim and Robyn. So far my time at Georgetown has been awesome! Preseason has been a lot of hard work but it's been great because the team as a whole has been working really hard. I think I'm looking most forward to all our home games. I'm hoping we get some fans out here to support us! Go Hoyas!"
Emmie Derback: "Hello! My name is Emmie and I am a 6-4 Scandinavian middle blocker from Southwest Florida. In high school, among other things, I was a National Merit Finalist and the salutatorian of my class. Athletically, I played both volleyball and basketball for my high school, the Canterbury School, and I played club volleyball for Fort Myers Fusion. My Georgetown Volleyball experience so far has been demanding but exhilarating. The team possesses an incredible amount of talent and desire for greatness, so these first days are about harnessing that and working toward our goals. The multiple practice and lift session weeks are grueling, but they have their highlights. I, in all my length, love pretending to be a defensive specialist in passing drills as well as hitting the weight room. Now, as I think about the regular season, I look forward to playing teams that I once met with and contemplated joining during the volleyball recruitment process in high school. I now know that I am a Georgetown athlete all the way! Hoya Saxa!"
