WASHINGTON - The Georgetown volleyball squad (6-5) travels to Richmond, Va., to take on Virginia Commonwealth University (1-9) on Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. Under Head Coach Arlisa Williams, the Hoyas are 0-2 against VCU, including a 3-1 loss in 2009.
In last season's match against VCU, Paris Coleman (Inglewood, Calif./Brentwood School) recorded eight kills, a .333 hitting percentage and eight digs. Kortney Robinson (Pleasant Grove, Utah/Pleasant Grove) also notched eight kills in the match.
This season, Robinson leads the team with 112 kills, averaging 3.29 kills per set. Freshman Elizabeth Riggins (Mission Viejo, Calif./Santa Margarita) leads the hitters on the squad with a .295 hitting percentage. Averaging 4.12 digs per set, Tory Rezin (Morris, Ill./Morris) leads the team with 165 digs.
Playing in the Blackbird Invitational this past weekend, the Hoyas went undefeated against Long Island, Yale, and NJIT. In its last match against NJIT, Riggins notched 15 kills, hitting .361 and Lindsay Wise (Raleigh, N.C./Raleigh Charter) tallied 11 kills and nine total blocks.
